Sustainability with LED Lighting
The popularity of LED lighting across many industries isn’t new, but there are many environmental benefits to making the change. Compared to fluorescent and incandescent lighting, LED solutions are a better choice for sustainability, functionality, power, and safety.
LEDs offer a superior environmental profile, as they’re significantly more energy efficient, conserving up to 80% more energy than their incandescent and fluorescent counterparts.
This efficiency is primarily due to the fact that approximately 95% of the energy consumed by LEDs is converted into light, with only 5% dissipated as heat. In contrast, fluorescent lighting fixtures convert only 5% of energy input into light, with the bulk dissipating as heat. By curbing energy consumption, LED lighting alleviates strain on electrical power infrastructures, significantly extending the lifespan of batteries and other power sources.
Due to greater energy efficiency, LED fixtures boast a significantly longer operational lifespan, because unlike conventional lighting systems, LEDs feature no fragile components likely to burnout or degrade over time, ensuring greater performance and longevity.
Internal Sustainability Initiatives
In alignment with our commitment to staying environmentally conscious, we have various sustainable practices across our facilities in the US and abroad, such as prioritizing the integration of energy-efficient LED fixtures throughout our corporate offices and warehouse spaces to reduce energy consumption and fixture replacements.
We’ve implemented a comprehensive recycling program for our employees, offering material recycling for glass, paper, and plastics to help reduce landfill waste. Additionally, we’ve shifted away from non-recyclable foam-based dishware to biodegradable paper products within our office break rooms. We also offer non-disposable dishware and a dishwasher to help reduce reliance on disposable items.
In terms of production, we’ve adopted a rigorous recycling regimen at our Chinese production facility, where label paper and packaging materials are repurposed, diverting thousands of pounds of waste from landfills annually. Plus, installation of a water recycling infrastructure at our testing facility has resulted in an approximate reduction of 40,000 gallons in water consumption every year.
Our commitment to sustainability includes the manufacture of LED lighting solutions, but is also important to our operational ethos, driving us to embrace practices that foster environmental responsibility and resource conservation.
